In the 15th century, after the Hundred Years' War, the manor house was refurbished in <strong>Renaissance style.<\/strong><\/p><p data-sourcepos=\"7:1-7:248\">Over the following centuries, the ch\u00e2teau had several owners, including the de La Marouti\u00e8re family, who gave it its current name. In the 17th century, the ch\u00e2teau was enlarged and embellished, and became an important seigneurial residence.<\/p><h2 data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:15\"><strong>Chateau de la Marouti\u00e8re - Architectural interest and Description<\/strong><\/h2><p data-sourcepos=\"34:1-34:99\">The Ch\u00e2teau de la Marouti\u00e8re is of significant architectural interest for the following reasons:<\/p><ul data-sourcepos=\"36:1-39:0\"><li data-sourcepos=\"36:1-36:51\">It is a fine example of Renaissance architecture.<\/li><li data-sourcepos=\"37:1-37:103\">It is one of the few Renaissance ch\u00e2teaux in Mayenne to have retained its original interior decor.<\/li><li data-sourcepos=\"38:1-39:0\">It is set in a remarkable landscape.<\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Chateau de la Marouti\u00e8re - An example of Renaissance architecture<\/strong><\/h3><p data-sourcepos=\"11:1-11:235\">Ch\u00e2teau de la Marouti\u00e8re is a fine example of Renaissance architecture. The main body of the ch\u00e2teau is built of schist and granite stone, and is flanked by two round towers. The slate roof is pierced by dormer windows.<\/p><p data-sourcepos=\"13:1-13:157\">The ch\u00e2teau's interior is richly decorated with woodwork, tapestries and paintings.
