240 km, il relie <a href=\"https:\/\/cparici.com\/toulouse-ville-rose\/\">Toulouse<\/a> \u00e0 la mer <a href=\"https:\/\/cparici.com\/cote-mediterranee-france\/\">M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e<\/a> \u00e0 S\u00e8te.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Aujourd&#8217;hui, il est pris\u00e9 pour les croisi\u00e8res fluviales, les balades \u00e0 v\u00e9lo et les d\u00e9couvertes culturelles.<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"204\" data-end=\"236\">Histoire du Canal du Midi<\/h2>\r\n<p data-end=\"913\">L&#8217;id\u00e9e de relier l&#8217;Atlantique \u00e0 la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e par un canal int\u00e9rieur remonte \u00e0 l&#8217;Antiquit\u00e9. Cependant, c&#8217;est sous le r\u00e8gne de Louis XIV que ce projet ambitieux voit le jour. En 1666, le roi signe l&#8217;\u00e9dit de Saint-Germain, autorisant la construction du canal, confi\u00e9e \u00e0 Pierre-Paul Riquet<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"920\" data-end=\"948\">Un chantier colossal<\/h3>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"950\" data-end=\"1146\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Les travaux d\u00e9butent en 1667 et s&#8217;\u00e9tendent sur 14 ans.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Des milliers d&#8217;ouvriers creusent le canal \u00e0 la pelle et \u00e0 la pioche, traversant des terrains vari\u00e9s et surmontant de nombreux d\u00e9fis techniques.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Riquet con\u00e7oit un syst\u00e8me ing\u00e9nieux d&#8217;alimentation en eau, captant les eaux de la Montagne Noire pour alimenter le canal au point le plus \u00e9lev\u00e9, le seuil de Naurouze;<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1153\" data-end=\"1192\">Une innovation technique majeure<\/h3>\r\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1400\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Le canal comprend Les \u00e9cluses de Fonseranes, situ\u00e9es \u00e0 B\u00e9ziers, sont particuli\u00e8rement impressionnantes : un escalier de huit bassins permettant de franchir un d\u00e9nivel\u00e9 de 21,5 m\u00e8tres sur 300 m\u00e8tres de long. Leur forme ovo\u00efde, sp\u00e9cifique au canal, offre une meilleure r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la pression des terres environnantes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h4 data-start=\"471\" data-end=\"958\"><span ease-in-out\">Class\u00e9es au patrimoine mondial de l\u2019UNESCO depuis 1996, les \u00e9cluses de Fonseranes attirent chaque ann\u00e9e de nombreux visiteurs.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Le site a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9am\u00e9nag\u00e9 en 2017 pour am\u00e9liorer l\u2019accueil du public, avec notamment la r\u00e9novation de la maison du coche d\u2019eau, transform\u00e9e en office de tourisme et en espace de sc\u00e9novision<\/span> .<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h4 data-start=\"817\" data-end=\"845\">Une
