The Napoleon Museum on the island of Aix - is a small museum located in the village of Ile d'Aix. It is one of the national Napoleonic museums. It has two floors, and is located in the house occupied by Napoleon - between July 12 and 15, 1815 - before his departure for England and forced exile to the island of St. Helena, where Napoleon lived out his final days.

What can you see at the Musée Napoléon on the Ile d'Aix?

Admission is charged, and the tour is organized thematically and/or chronologically. Once you've passed the clock room (collection of over 40 clocks), you'll find rooms on the following themes: the Directoire and Consulate, the Empire and the Imperial family, the island of Aix and the Emperor's last stay, exile on St. Helena and the return of the ashes, the Emperor's bedroom, Memories of the Napoleonic legend.

Here you'll find objets d'art, paintings and other objects that belonged to Napoleon 1st. The last room is dedicated to the Gourgaud family, and their role in the creation of the Musée Napoléon.

How much does the Musée Napoléon charge?

Admission is charged for adults - a very modest sum - and free for children and under-26s from the European Union. The museum has a gift store and bookshop.

The island of Aix is a small island located between Ile d'OléronFouras and la pointe de la fumée, in the Bay of Biscay, close to Fort Boyard.
