Port Manec'h beach in Névez, Finistère is located in the Finisitère in the commune of Névez, in southern Brittanybetween the communes of Trégunc and Pont-Aven, and not far from the town of Concarneau. It lies at the bottom of the village of Port Manec'h, at the mouth of the river Aven.
The illustrious painter Gauguin lived in Pont-Aven, and spent time in Port Manec'h to 'paint' scenes of life.
Port Manec'h beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the commune of Névez, along with those of Tahiti-Raguénezor the Rospico. It's a lively beach that will satisfy every member of the family: sailing, fishing, kayaking, sunbathing... Your children will also be able to play in the sand, play ball, etc... The beach is just over 100 m long, and at the height of the season, with good weather, it can be difficult to find room for everyone.
You can reach it easily from the town of Névez, by cycling, walking or driving through the village of Port Manech. The beach is not far from the village of Kerdruc, or from Rospico beach. So you can get there on foot, by bike, by bus, by cab or by car.
You can also get there in just a few minutes from the village of Pont-Aven, along the river Aven.
Parking in season is not easy. You can park in the free parking lot on rue de la plage, near the Saint Nicolas chapel.
You can also park in the parking spaces on the small road running alongside the beach. Parking is free, but there are only a few spaces available.
Tahiti- Raguénez beach is just over 100 meters long, and the views are breathtaking in fine weather. You can see the rocky outcrops on the water's surface, the mouth of the Aven, and even the mouth of the Belon.
The proximity of the Port Manec'h harbor also makes for a lovely view, not to mention the houses and the magnificent Dalmore Manor overlooking the whole bay.
Port Manec'h is a small beach with fine sand, but it gets very busy in season, especially from July 15 to August 15. Having said that, the atmosphere remains family-friendly.
What's more, the beach is easily accessible from the Cor du Pouldon, which runs alongside it.
Port Manec'h beach is famous for its beach huts, and has sailing centers, like Kersidan beach and Dourvei beach, where you'll even find a surf school.
The water is often clear, and the sea calm. Of course, you can also enjoy the view from the village harbour, then follow the coastal paths.
Yes, swimming is supervised during the summer season. However, be careful not to swim in the channel occupied by catamarans and kayaks to the north of the beach.
The beach at Port Manec'h is ideally located for discovering either Aven or the coast. You can also take advantage of the marina, where you can set sail for the Glénan archipelago or Pont Aven.
From Port Manec'h beach, it's just a few minutes to the port of Kerdruc, located in the Aven river, and even to Pont-Aven, the famous city of painters.
Not far from Port Manech beach, you can also visit the thatched cottage villages of Kercanic and Kerascoet.
You can enjoy a walk along the coastal path (also known as the GR 34) overlooking the ocean, to Rospico beach.
It's also possible to take a bike ride along the Névezienne circuit, which allows you to discover Névez, its territory, and its most beautiful cultural and landscape assets.
The town of Névez is famous for its fine sandy beaches and unspoilt blue waters. It's ideally situated between Trégunc and Pont-Aven.
From Port Manech or the pointe de Trévignon, you can embark for the Glénan archipelago, or the town of Pont-Aven, home of the painters.
Of course, as explained above, you can take advantage of its beaches - Rospico beach, Port Manec'h beach, Tahiti beach, Raguénez beach, Kersidan beach, Dourvei beach - as well as its many activities and market...
But don't forget to take the time to (re) discover the architecture of the neo-Breton houses, the thatched cottages (Kereascoet or Kercanic), or the cultural elements of Breton heritage.
