Church of Meschers is a church located in the city center de Meschers in neo-classical style, with a Gothic bell tower dating from the 15th century. The building's appearance is relatively sober. This may have something to do with the Protestant influence in the region.
Over the course of its history, the church at Meschers Sur Gironde has been rebuilt several times, and is said to have been bombarded twice: first by Spanish pirates in the 17th century, then during clashes between Louis XIII and Protestant rebels.
Around the Meschers church, you'll find the market square, and a number of stores and restaurants within easy walking distance. The area is very busy in high season.
From the church, it's easy to get to the port of Meschersbut also to cliffs of Meschers to discover the famous plaice. Not far away is the Nonnes beachVergnes beach, and the small Arnèche beach.
MeschersThe village, an authentic fishing village, has now become a family destination, where you can enjoy its beaches and troglodyte cliffs, far from the crowds of the Pays Royannais.
