Discover the Forêt de Suzac in Saint Georges de Didonne

La Foret de Suzac in Saint Georges de Didonne is a coastal forest located between the communes of Saint Georges de Didonne and Meschers sur Gironde. It stretches along Gironde estuary from pointe de Suzac, via plage de Suzac to plage des vergnes.

Partly owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, the forest is made up of numerous maritime pines. It is maintained by ONF teams, who cut down mature trees.

You can walk through the forest, along the coast and coastal paths, for example. But you can also go mountain biking and take advantage of the many forest paths. At the entrance to the forest, near Saint Georges de Didonne, you'll find the Parc de l'Estuaire, ideal for information on the Gironde estuary. Things to do near Suzac Forest

Suzac Point

Suzac Point Saint Georges de Didonne is a rocky cape in the Gironde estuary, close to the Suzac forest.. It is divided between the communes of Saint Georges de Didonne and Meschers sur Gironde, and lies opposite the Pointe de Grave.
Here you'll find numerous blockhouses that were built during the Second World War, which allowed the Germans to control the passage of boats on the Gironde estuary.
The site also features the remains of a Napoleonic fort. The blockhouses can be visited, and you'll find plenty of graffiti. The Pointe de Suzac is protected and since 2015 has been part of the Parc naturel marin de l'estuaire de la Gironde et de la mer des Pertuis. It marks the boundary between the ocean and the Gironde estuary. 

The beach at Saint Georges de Didonne

The beach at St Georges de Didonne is a long, sandy beach not far from the Suzac forest. The beach is ideal for families and children. All kinds of activities are possible, including sailing and water sports. The beach stretches from the Pointe de Suzac, with its former accrobranche (tree-climbing park) and the nearby Parc de l'Estuaire, to the Sainte Georges de Didonne nautical center, not far from the Vallières lighthouse and the little port of St Georges.

St Georges de Didonne is a small town at the mouth of the Gironde estuary on the Côte de Beauté, known for its long sandy beach.
