"The Suzac lighthouse was located in the Suzac forest, not far from Suzac beach. Today, almost nothing remains of this lighthouse, also known as the Rabbit Lighthouse.
Witness this account: "The Suzac lighthouse, also known in the region as the 'rabbit lighthouse', is located around 8 kilometers southeast of Royan, the most beautiful beach in the southwest.
It was hot the day I went there.
Soon I had to climb a steep gradient and found myself at the foot of the lighthouse. What a lighthouse! If it weren't for the red glass at the top, I'd take it for a quirky house, no doubt, but so pretty with its freshly repainted white walls, huge pigeon cages and surrounding vineyards. On the side is a sign with the words: "Visit the Suzac lighthouse. Please knock".
According to the testimony, the lighthouse lens was cut from a single piece of crystal (3000 kilos) and measured 2.20m in diameter. The lamp wattage was 58 candles, and the lighthouse was visible for up to 55 kilometers. The article speaks of the most powerful red lighthouse in the world at the time (1934).
